I have no time
says
the young man
running to catch
a bus,
the woman slipping
into her
shoes,
brushing her
hair,
eating as she
checks her
watch.
the children,
at recess chasing
the red
ball. we have
no time, hurry
they say, before
the bell rings.
be quick.
the old man
on the bench,
I have no time
he says, I need to
go, I need
to be somewhere
else. people are
waiting,
I must hurry.
the dying
in hospitals,
staring out
the sunlit window
dotted with birds.
I have no time
they say. very little
to speak of. finally
the truth.
