she wants to be
a hurricane.
her name
across the news. she
wants the headline
to read
Lydia blows up
and down the east
coast
erasing towns,
breaking levees.
smashing cars,
turning the world
into a stormy
stew. my name would
come up
over and over
again, she says.
people would
remember me for
a long time,
and it wouldn't
be like now,
when they often
scratch their heads,
and say, Lydia,
I don't remember
her. who?

My daughter Lydia, said she felt like Moses. Wearing a homecoming dress. Saying, "Let my people go." Different than a tornado. Her name won't make news.Moses on the other hand is a generational name and will be remembered for stirring things up.
