you take a casual
inventory of your aches
and pains.
starting from your
blistered feet, then
work up to your knees
that click like
drum sticks
keeping an erratic beat,
that plum bruise
on your thigh is nothing.
nor is the hip burn.
the lump though,
well. it's there.
hard as a rubber ball,
but small. it might
go away if you'd stop
touching it.
and the shoulders.
the right one mostly.
as long as you don't
put weight on it when
you sleep or reach for
something like
a can of beans
on the top shelf.
what else.
