awakening

he says
to me
over tea,
over toast,
over the table
that we share
as the sun
settles in
and warms
the earth
still wet
with rain
and glistening.
he says to
me, if God
truly loves
us, then there
is nothing,
not a single
thing we
need to fear.
and i stare
at him and take
in this simple
statement
that tells so
much in so
few words
and solves truly
everything that
has been so
unsettled within
for so long.
