it's shallow water
we're in now.
a murky black swell
of cold,
above our knees as
we slug
forward.
the rain has stopped,
but it could start
again.
dry land is no where
to be found.
this shallow water
though,
gives us hope, gives
us a reason
to go on. take my hand,
hold the light
up. let's go.
