the candy shoppe

it's a small candy shop,
nestled between
a hardware store
and dress boutique.
there's a bright
red sign out front.
fancy sweets.
inside, behind cooled glass
sit chocolates,
bite sized, both round
and squared,
ready to be boxed
or bagged.
high end stuff.
deep rich darks
and milks,
some filled with
caramel
or raspberry, others
dipped
and striped with white
swirls.
it will be out of business
in a week
or two.
but there's coffee
as well, so it may drag on
a bit longer.
