the worst car you ever
owned comes to mind.
how it rumbled and roared
when new,
before the battery
died, before
the oil pump blew.
it leaked, leaving
puddles of green,
of gold.
wet spots of unknown
origin everywhere it went.
when it rained the trunk
filled with water,
but it looked good
when clean
and polished
the fender shining
in the sun, sitting parked
under an oak tree
with the for sale
sign inked and hung.
