slowly you run the vacuum
over the rug
picking up the crumbs,
the loose ends, vague
pieces of someone
you used to know,
remnants of romance
long gone, the dust
and dirt that comes
and goes
in your gypsy life.
the bag fills to the brim
which you empty
as quickly as you can
into the wind,
then move on.
