next, love
is not
on his mind, or
death, or work.
what lies
on a porch,
on a sill, behind
a door,
a secret drawer
in a desk
is of more importance.
what pocket needs
to be picked,
what camera
snatched off
a table, or ring
and watch
set on a sink.
it's not easy
being a thief,
so much to steal,
even a horse
can be taken
from an unlocked
stable.
