that horn, the car alarm.
the siren
of theft
that never is begins.
a jiggle
to the car sets it off.
a cat
leaping onto the hood.
hail,
a strong wind.
blow it a kiss and the lights
blink,
the blare starts.
finally the neighbor
appears
in his shorts, without
shoes or a shirt
and waves
his fob, his wand of
silence towards it.
