the st. patty's day
parade
winds noisily down
the street,
drums and drinking,
the wheezing honk of
bagpipes.
plaid skirts and kilts,
green beer
already
on the lips of red
faced
burly men
and irish girls
who want to be kissed.
the drug stores
are nearly
out of aspirin
and it has just begun.
