the future comes to you,
as it often does
in small glimpses,
teaspoons of truth
telling you what's to be.
a harsh medicine
to swallow, but you
do. again and again.
you accept the illness
that life is, ever slipping
away, dying, despite
all efforts to detain it.
the future comes to you
as it often does
in small glimpses,
the difference now,
at this age, is that you
drink it gladly
with no remorse.
