my brother
who works as a clown
for kid's parties
likes to drink
after the day is
done. he goes
with his costume
on. a silky lime
green jumpsuit
with a zipper
down the front.
he has on big
floppy blue shoes,
a red ball nose,
the exaggerated
make up of white
and orange. give me
a scotch he says
to the bartender,
then another.
sometimes i'll
join him while
wearing my chaps
and cowboy hat
and boots with
silver spurs and
we'll talk about
our childhood,
what went wrong.
