saving days in a bottle

i take
the day, sixty
and sunny without a cloud
in the sky and place it in a bottle.
saving
it
for winter, when
the snow
and ice
glazes over the road
and lawns,
the rooftops that i see
from my
window.
i place the bottle in the cellar,
my good day
cellar
where all the other bottles
are,
no longer holding wine.
i date
the label, sketching
a sunny smile beside it
and carefully
place it on the shelf, ready
to be opened
on the day the first flake
falls.
