the choking boy,
blue in the face,
a piece of food
lodged in this narrow
throat, throws his
arms into the air.
his blue eyes bulge.
you see the mother
get up
and reach around
his small chest
and squeeze him tightly
where a group of ducks
swim.
out goes the food.
the boy can breathe again.
she's very calm
as she sits down
to wipe his face.
she then reaches over
with fork and knife
to cut his food into
smaller pieces.
