tomorrow land

I am disappointed
by the future that was promised
to us
as children.
time travel,
the jet packs.
living on the moon,
our minds enlightened,
no longer bothered
by race
or creed, polyester
or wool.
each to his own
way of thinking, dressing
the same in silver suits,
all equals
in the eye of God,
or whatever machine
deemed worthy to pick
our fate. it's basically
the same, we eat, we drink,
we work,
make love and sleep.
little has changed,
which in a strange
way, for the most part,
is good.
