with a soft whistle.

pecking at my head,

or bothering cats

like cat

birds do,

not mean

like the blue jays,

or ravenous

like vultures.

some birds are okay.

the religious ones like

cardinals,

and sparrows,

however

the fat

city pigeons

with rainbow breasts,

and yellowed claws,

not so much.

you can hardly

sit down

and eat a bagel

in NYC without

a congregation gathering

at your feet.
