the good china

rare that someone takes out
the good china,
the good silver.
the crystal.
paper plates are in.
plastic cups.
sporks.
it's the new world.
each meal a picnic
in the park
with ants and barking
dogs.
boxed wine
and frozen pies.
we go to church in our
pajamas.
we let our hair down.
we talk at the movies.
don't worry about
the door
behind us.
we are strangers to
each other, never writing
a note
to say thank you.
I love you,
come again.
