I take a small
piece of candy, cut in half.
mint,
chocolate, a sweet
tiny
morsel of something
she loved
and place it on her
lips.
her eyes open, she
mimics a smile, opens
her stiff mouth
and let's it
fall against her
tongue.
she grips my hand.
she closes her eyes
and swallows.
no words need to be said
about the sweetness
of life.
