the dog

the dumb dog
is sweet, brown eyed
and loping
along, listening
with it's eyes,
pleasant in it's stupor.
so willing to obey
and please.
hardly a bark
to give,
a child's dog.
everyone's friend,
a big boned blonde
of warmth, curled
loyally at
your feet.
