her friends throw her a
going away party
with cake and food,
drinks. small parting
gifts. a farewell banner
stretches from
one yellow kitchen wall
to the other.
the photos are on facebook,
for how else would you know.
strangely they
all are wearing small cowboy hats
and large black
mustaches, stuck to their
upper lips. men, the women too.
this may be
politically incorrect
on some level,
but they look like they
are having fun.
many of them used to be
your friends, but they
chose a side as people
are prone to do when a marriage ends,
but that's fine and dandy partner,
for everyone, including you.
