boy in the car

the boy's face against the window.
pressed
into a ghoulish mask,
a childish whim,
his tongue out,
his fingers in his ears.
his teeth like little tombstones
grinding at the glass.
he will live his life
then die, possibly forgotten,
but the picture of him
will last forever.
that's the world we're
living in now.
