your father

shoes, loafers,

there may have
been buckles.
he'd wear
them with shorts
and a matching white
belt.
sometimes he
draped himself in
a plaid
shirt, or a tropical
blouse with
pineapples on
it, or myna birds.
you said nothing,
of course.
the look had been
working for him
for decades,
why stop the fashion
roll that he was on.
now it's your son's
turn to take a shot
at your wardrobe,
such as it is.
