the cook

more salt she says,
now more pepper,
a little pinch of
this, a sprinkling
of that. hmm. let
me stir and taste.
hold on, i'll pour
just a tablespoon
of this into the mix
and then i think
you have it.
before you put
the lid on let me
chop up another
onion and toss
it in. there we
go.  i just love
the way you cook,
she says. you really
know what you're
doing in the kitchen.
